Remember when the only thing we worried about at cons was Con-Crud (head colds)? And the only reason to worry about getting too close to a fellow con goer was when they were so excited that they forgot deodorant? Yeah. Good times. Now we have more things to worry about – but there is plenty we can do.
Carolina Fear Fest is committed to providing a safe environment for all guests, attendees, staff and volunteers. It will take everyone’s cooperation to ensure that we are able to do so.
Everyone will be required to adhere to all COVID safety rules and policies while inside the venue. These now routine expected protocols include:
- face mask worn over mouth and nose at all times, including cosplayers
- liberal use of hand sanitizer
- good hand-washing habits
- maintaining social distancing wherever possible
- plexiglass panels in major interaction zones, including photo ops
These policies are subject to change as we will be closely following the science and the recommendations of health officials.
Ticket sales for the event will be ONLINE only to eliminate one area of close interaction with attendees (ticketing booths), and we encourage all to purchase add-on items in advance (such as photo ops) as well.
All interactive areas will be sanitized frequently and vendors are asked to sanitize their displays/booth areas as often as needed throughout the event.
While we encourage everyone to be vaccinated as early as possible (after discussions and advice from their health care provider, of course). But not everyone will have received the vaccine prior to this event. Because of this, safety rules will remain in place for ALL attendees, regardless of vaccination status. Having received your full series vaccination will NOT relieve you of the responsibility to adhere to policies in place such as mask wearing.
Please know that everyone, staff and vendors, will remind attendees about mask wearing. Should anyone not be willing to properly wear their mask at all times on the floor, they may be asked to leave the event without refund.
We want to see you at this event. We do. Really. But:
As much as we want to celebrate horror together, we don’t want you there if you are sick. Should go without saying, but if you are not feeling well, or exhibiting symptoms – please do not attend the event.
If you are exposed to someone with COVID (or COVID-like symptoms) in the 2 weeks prior, please do not attend the event.
Please know that we have relaxed our refund policies and would rather provide a refund than have you attend if you are ill – just message or email and we will take care of you. We really want to see you, but please don’t risk everyone’s health.
Let’s all band together as a horror-loving community: be socially responsible and kind to our fellow fans and their families. Only by taking the extra steps and being as safe as possible, can we as a convention community begin to hold events again.
